Hand In Hand
Hand in Hand’s mission is to bring friendship and joy to children with special needs, peace of mind to their parents, and the values of volunteerism and compassion among our youth. To all involved, it strives to instill a sense of community responsibility for its members with special needs.
Each week without fail, a group of four teenagers comes to our home, two exceptionally dedicated friends for each of our children. Hannah and Connor lived in a very lonely world, day-in and day-out… they now have a life filled with lots of fun and real friends. And because of the Sunday Circle, Tom and I get some time alone to talk peacefully and uninterrupted. (This is something very rare in our world as parents of 2 autistic children.) We literally don’t know what we would do without Hand-in-Hand!
I participated in Hand in Hand to make a difference for the kids but the kids made more of a difference in my life. I saw how anyone could have a good time anywhere; all you needed was a smile and some acceptance. Hand in Hand has changed my life.
Hand in Hand is amazing! One of the amazing programs they have is their summer camp, my son had the best experience ever! The staff and volunteers are wonderful with our kids. They go out every day and go on a great adventure like Sky Zone or IPlay America. I can't forget to mention they swim every day too!!
